Closing time is the riskiest ten minutes of the retail day. Here is how to monitor it.

Robbery, forgotten safes and propped doors cluster at close. Opening-and-closing verification with a live call-back fixes most of it.

Ask a convenience store or restaurant operator when they worry, and the answer is closing. Cash is counted, the safe is open, the rear door is propped for the trash run, and one or two employees are alone with all of it. Most closing-time robberies are not random; someone watched the routine first.

Closing verification turns the routine into a checklist an operator confirms step by step: registers counted with two people, safe closed, rear door secured, lights, alarm set, staff exit together. A missed step gets a call to the manager while they are still inside — not a note in the morning.

The last step matters as much as the first: operators watch the closing staff to their vehicles and arm the overnight zones only when the lot is clear. For stores with a speaker, the operator can address anyone who approaches during the walk.

Paired with after-hours monitoring, there is no gap between the manager's car leaving and the overnight coverage starting — the site is watched continuously from the last customer to the first employee.
